Why Would You Do This Ripley?!!
Fiction is supposed to make story-sense, not necessarily real world logical sense.. In my opinion the mark of a brilliant movie, comic, or book is that it suspends your sense of disbelief so well that you easily overlook the obvious short comings that you would notice if it were your own life.
How it Should Have Ended picks up where logic leaves off with one of my favorite scifi masterpieces, ALIENS. I don’t know why I love this over the first, I generally prefer Ridley Scott‘s flicks over anything by James Cameron any day. To me it is one of those rare occasions when the sequel is better than the original. Maybe it’s because Ripley doesn’t give a shit anymore, or that the controlling theme of maternal power is so throughly explored in art direction and subplots.. but the truth is, there are a few holes in how it shoulda wrapped up.. but then again we wouldn’t have been able to see Sigourney Weaver in that robotic construction suit demanding “Get away from her, you BITCH!”
